I think the mere posting of names and faces are not that all important. Yes it may aid us in knowing who they are, physically, but the most important thing is to tell us here on how they are going to govern our town.
To all candidates: LET THE PEOPLE KNOW YOUR PLATFORM OF GOVERNANCE.
And one more thing - enough of this vote buying! It makes our town morally bankrupt everytime there is election. Besides, it is not legit. How can you say to us honestly in our face that you “win” when in fact you just buy votes? It might do well if you use your money to lend to the people so they can use it for business. It’s a win-win situation.
[Reply here]
Ditto…I don’t think it is necessary for us to see their faces here. I think it’ll be much better if you’ll be posting pictures of places in Tanauan instead of showing these TRADITIONAL POLITICIANS faces here. Who cares for them anyway? I believe most of your readers here are not even voters anymore in Tanauan, so what’s the use of posting faces or posters of every candidates or political parties.
The only thing I can advice to those who will be casting their vote is to choose well and think before writing the names of candidates. It’s not all about the money that you receive from them come election day, it is all about how these politicians will work for the benefit of each and every constituents of Tanauan.
[Reply here]
hehehe;-) no personal knowledge;-)
[Reply here]
i share in the warm wishes of karina for Tanauan!!! we’ve never had reports of election violence before so I think we can still make a peaceful, honest, clean and fair election this time…
[Reply here]
it would do good for visitors of this site to be able to see our candidates..not that it would be the very thing controlling but for purposes of education, it would help…
ah the votebuying thing Architect has been there eversince..we may talk about it openly in this site but unless we strike at the very persons involved (the giver and the taker), we can only go this far..it is not too late though. but as i said when it has been a matter that traces back to the very core of our political culture and our values system, it will take more than this awareness. i’m sure everyone has something in mind on what he can do or contribute if CHANGE IS OUR END.
[Reply here]
hmmmmm. I’m eager to see their ITR first. whoever wins at the end of theirs terms, we can calculate the exact salaries received. para at least makita naton kun hin-o an nangurakot.
[Reply here]
All these political mess is a product of moral and spiritual degeneration. Education of our people can help, but it may not be enough. The bottomline is - when a person is grounded in the faith in God, he will likely resist the temptation of money. I guess start by convicting them that what they’re doing is, first and foremost, morally wrong and offends the Creator. Not until they realize that it is a sin and be convicted by it can they truly say “enough”. The people need spiritual and moral purgation from this sin. Amen.

AMEN..

You can order it in http://www.FilipinoGift.ph soon.
[Reply here]
timely words of reflection in this remaining day of lent;-)
we can make them see our point but still doing what is right becomes a personal choice. i don’t think we can go so far as to dictate them of what is the rght thing to do. after all, the faith you have and whether you even practice it at all is a matter fo CHOICE.. i have yet to see another “Gandhi”. Im sure you’ve herd of him He did what he preached and believed. but that is the “road less travelled”;-) people in our time go for company not isolation;-)
[Reply here]
hello poknat…not bad for a candidate right?;-)actually, for now it is only Mr. Gimenez’s Party who has given us a poster of their lineup. But we do hope we can get a poster of the other candidates including those running independent;-)
We’ll try to work out if we can get some of their qualifications and hopefully post it here. as a writer, we make do with the resources available;-)
About the popularity thing. It’s really Filipino style. Kaya nga we had a famous actor ” kasi panmasa” for a Philippine President even if he was a highschool dropout. Typically filipino. And we have a good number of “artistas” joining the race in both national and local positions…although i have nothing against them, because nobody has the monopoly of competence, i still would like to see us vote wisely…Kun sikat na ngan maupay pa ha serbisyo publiko, why not? otherwise, we still have many options pa naman…
an mga baligya nga tablea, please watch out nalang for filipinogift.com;-)happy easter poknat! everyone!
[Reply here]
Happy Easter to everyone. It does not feel like Spring has arrived. Here in the mid atlantic region, it still feels like winter season. We had snow flurries yesterday and today, which is just hard for my four-year-old son, Brennan, to do Easter egg hunting. Oh well, so much for teaching traditions…Anyway, I agree very much with Hector Gomez. I think it would be beneficial for candidates if they could post their platform of government including their achievements and accomplishments in lives so that intelligent voters can decide and can choose from among the candidates the best that could represent them in government. By merely posting their political affiliations does not mean anything, at least to me. In fact, by just doing that I can just imagine that the incumbent mayor is pro GMA and Mark Roa Gimenez, the challenger, is pro Romualdez (being the son of Fe Roa Gimenez, the secretary of Imelda Marcos) which then would become a matter of money contest; whoever has more cash to give to the voters will win the election. In the States, the voters are the ones who give money to their candidates for support, which is the opposite here in the Philippines. Also, the candidates’ platform of government can be easily distinguished by the political party/banner he/she is in. For instance, the two dominant political party here in the States are the Democrats and the Republicans. The front runners for the democrats are Senators Hillary Clinton of New York and Barrack Obama of Illinois while for the Republicans are Senator Mitt Romney of Massachussetts and ex Mayor Rudy Guilliani of New York. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party’s platform of government are very much well-defined so that voters can easily identify the political party they want to support, i.e. Democratic Party is pro minority, bigger government, progressive, etc. while the Republican Party is for conservatives, repressive, for smaller government, supported by Evangelicals, etc.
[Reply here]
I am a little bit confused with the analysis of Mr Redona. Maybe he doesn’t know yet that the Romualdezes in are now an ally of the Arroyo Administration. May we know then who is funding the campaign of the group of the opposition.
[Reply here]
NEED UPDATES BA?…HAYAAN MONA, MALAYO KASI EH…
[Reply here]
What the tanauaneños need is a concrete platform and a clear indication of the candidate’s sincerity to be of sevice to the people.
Proof of axiom are officials propelled into office by voters whose perception of public service is enhance by visible programs.
i hope that tanauanneños will vote for candites whose platform of governance will claw him out from poverty of which he is mired and find their heart to put people and progress before personal aggrandizement.
so my dear TANAUANEÑOS vote a deseving candidate that u think will help and make changes for the betterment of our town……….

It really doesn’t matter if a candidate for any position speaks tagalog, english or waray…as long as He/ She is true in HIs/Her desire to serve Tanauan. Just to tell Mr. Dennis Roa, i know you are referring to Mr. Mark Roa Gimenez…yes, he did not grow up in Tanauan, but it doesn’t mean he don’t have the best interest for the tanauanenos!
