Is Tanauan now a Haven for an Indecent Show?

Ernie Teston January 16th, 2008

30-12-07_0020Tanauan has truly changed! Why am I saying this? I discovered that my beloved town is now a haven for shows exploiting young women clad in skimpy bikinis parading for all men to ogle at. Way before, shows such as this could have raised the eyebrows of the conservative groups, but then, this has been done previously, as I was informed, and no one seemed to object!

This Bikini Open Competition held just last December 30, 2007 was part of the nightly attraction to lure people to the 2007 Tanauan Skim Open 4th National Competition (see related article previously posted on this website) as organized by the LGU. With a jampacked crowd, I suppose it completely stole the main attraction which was skimboarding. I deduce we’re not just touting the town now as the skimboarding capital but probably the center of bikini open and exploiter of women as well. Well, just nine very young women tried to outshine each other through a hotly-contested showcase of flesh and flesh and flesh to the delight of the audience composed mostly of men.

I have seen too many a bikini competition but not as vulgar and as indecently choreographed as this one. It became nauseating at some point as each girl tried to win the nod of audience and judges by doing stuffs and acts seen only in cheapy girlie bars. Foreign visitors acted as judges who all seemed to be shocked at the lewd show hurled at their face. One judge was even seen documenting the show with his digital video camera as each girl stepped down and gyrated right infront of the judges. The rest of the men scamper to the front with their camera cellphones as each one comes out of the stage. It was truly a sight of lust and basic instinct in men all trying to get a slice of the best meat, this time, the best view.

As the show progresses, the girls all generated yelps, not just shrieks, as they come out with less and less piece of cloth to hide their loins. What made it even more improper was that there were too many kids present. My godchildren, aged 7 and 9 years old could not help but utter, “Mama, panguli na kita, makaharadlok na man iton”. (Mama, let’s go home, this is getting scary). We had to protect the impressionable mind of these kids by bringing them home.

Now, the height of this offensive show came when the girls were made to have that “wet-look” by stepping down to a water shower all the more emphasizing their wares and executed steps way beyond the decency level. The audience really became euphoric! As if by act and reminder from God, even before the show was midway through, the whole of Tanauan was engulfed with darkness as the light went out. For nearly an hour, the show was suspended. Thanks to the generated light beamed at the beach front for the night scheduled skimboard competition, the Bantay-Dagat was spared from total darkness. Even then, most of the audience decided to go home rather than wait.

The show was indeed a success judging by the men who still decided to stay. Now, I could not just comprehend why the show must be presented this way. It could have been done in a tasteful manner as not to offend the taste of everyone and an acceptable decorum or modesty level for a show of this nature. Granting that this was done in the beach, still it did not justify the type of choreography and production the girls were made to go through. I really pitied those girls who, as I heard from others near me, that they are projecting images of easy lay girls or in local dialect, “baga hin mga pokpok”. I know these girls are decent but with the kind of treatment they got and the intensity of the competition, they really had to do shameful acts just to be shine and be noticed. Right after the show, I witnessed how one drunk man approached one of the contestants, asking for her number and uttering suggestive words implying the girl is an easy lay.

Even more, what deeply disturbed my mind is why our local government unit is nurturing this kind of show. Why do we have to resort to this cheap gimmickry just to lure domestic tourism and financial backers? They could have at least “censored” or mentored the choreographers and girls to produce a decent show and not as “wildly primitive” as this one. Had it been shown on national television, for sure, this could have generated negative publicity mileage for our town and its leaders or, probably, responsible authorities could have been sacked and sanctioned by now. By then, we would have unabashedly and completely achieved our dream as the Skimboarding Capital of the Philippines vis-à -vis Exploiter of Women”. Now, we do not want that to happen, right? After all, Tanauan, so they say, is the “Bungto han Kamag-araman.” Well, we just hope this will not happen again.

Sadly, even before I left for Manila, I heard there was another bikini open in Marabut, Samar, with almost the same set of girls joining the competition. But then, the producer of the said show, who also witnessed the Tanauan Bikini Open declared, “I do not want that kind of show as done in Tanauan.” Need I say more?

TO MR. ERNIE TESTON

I think this all boils down to the fact that you are someone who’s trying to be a woman but could never be.
Put your insecurities aside and just shut the **** up!!

To Ms. Congeniality or whoever the **** you are,

If you’ver been affected by my blog, then I have succeeded! Voila! What do you have then? It all comes down to the fact that what I said here in my blog was true. You know what, getting personal is a matter of being literally uneducated and those without BRAINS! We’re talking of an ISSUE HERE AND NOT PERSONALITIES!

We’re all free to blow our horn here, so you better be sensible enough not to let any personal knowledge or judgment on who I am or what I do. Insecurity is a matter of personal assessment. I am a confident one and bold enough to say what I personally feel sans my PERSONALITY. I guess most of those who blogged here agreed to what I said about the SHOW.

I know who I am and what I stand for. I love my town but I don’t go down to the level of hurling invectives or judging anyone’s personality, like what you did here. I have proven my worth.Baka ikaw ang may problema at ala ka pa napatutunayan….

That is why next time, think first before you write so that your ego or your personality perhaps will not be touched. An article shows the personality of the writer. Indeed you have brains no questions about it. But this time you have just divided our town, you never consider what will be the effect of this article to some other people and maybe to you. Be careful next time ernie.

I think it would be much better if you focus on your article about the “LASAW nga daliig hit iyo blay, that makes your sorroundings nasty, stinky and not quite good for your health”..asya ka ada na gasa..☺

Anyways, I hope it mga talented nga mga tanauanon umuli pa konta ngada tat bungto pag share hit ira mga talent. Ik-mat la kamo kay bangin sunod it iyo naman show it ma ppost nganhi..tsk tsk tsk…waray gud pauwahan it tawo..

Anak ng inahin!!!Ang dami-daming nagrereklamo. Bakit di suriin ang mga utak ninyong lahat. O talagang paninindigan ninyong nasa 16th century pa rin ang inyong mga mentalidades. Come on guys wake!! Life beautiful but SHORT!! Ain’t I right buddy?? Sigue inom hiton bahal!!

Kaya sakali mauulit ang ganung pangyayari-BIKINI OPEN- marahil upang makaiwas sa mga mapanuring pseudo moralists at mga Mary Clears - have the event done in an enclosed building or whatever. And minors-under 18- are are not allowed. Moms are allowed sans under age kids. Go ahead!! Prepare to organize another B.O. It’s fun!!! Don’t forget the community guidelines. No, not the guidelines from the pseudo moralists and living still in the 16th century!!! Ciaooooooooo!!!!!!!!

otoy, everybody knows the world is changing but for goodness sake, are there any other things we should try to consider first? i mean tanauanons are just wasting their intellects and time to this kind of crap. if you are really an intelligent person then try showing at least in tanauan that you are really globally compitent. ‘tanauan, bungto han kamag araman’, by this phrase alone you should be ashamed that such immoral events are taking place in our hometown. mag aram la ngayan kamo hin ano?

Pigos at Otoy,

Tanauan really is a town of intelligent people!! That is why the two of you are at loggerheads!! Good!! But there are still some who are really conservatives. They don’t want to accept the stark reality that the world has changed a lot.So they think that in some town feast celeb-
rations,moro-moro is still staged. And so some of them, lugging minors, would go to the plaza to see the program hoping the participants are clad in the old colorful barongs and sayas. Come on people!! Mars is being explored for possible signs of living things - LIFE - and moro moro is dead. Saturate the web with beautiful women of Tanauan. But remember the community guidelines!!

Go ahead Tanauan feast organizers!! Have another beautiful women contest!! And those Maria Claras are invited but with out lugging recently born babies. The show is rated “PG”!!!! O.K.??

Nasty this practise!!

I am conservative woman from the Barangay of San Roque but i beg to disagree that my beloved Tanauan is now a haven of indecent show just because of that Bikini contest. In the first place, we should expect that in a bikini contest a lot flesh will be shown from the sexy-women contestants. Secondly, the show is just held annually. Thirdly, it was held in an appropriate place. Lastly, if the girls showed lewd poses, it was their way of getting the nod of the judges. Let us not blame the organizers for they were the ones who paraded their fleshes on stage.

We can only say that Tanauan is now a haven of indecent shows if nightclubs will become a lucrative and prolific business in Tanauan or if the local council make a resolution making Tanauan a red district.

I have observed that this issue in fairness to both sides - whether you are in favor or not in this kind of show, I think the organizer failed to consider the sensitivity of putting up this kind of show. Let’s all face it, Tanuaan is still very backward and the people are not used to this kind of show. It could have been better if it was not done in public or there should have been tickets for adults only.

i see a couple of comments that put a positive spin on the issue. but let’s not miss the point of women’s beauty, personality, character and sexuality. i admire those qualities because that is the women of today. but i also admire women of yesterday becuase their modest, believed in moral values and still can be very beautiful and sexy. and we all can admit that filipina women are one of the most beautiful creatures in the world.
balanced of ideas in creativity, moral fortitude, sensesuality to name a few should be employed in this contest. if there has been a perceived lewd act on behalf of the participants, these should be corrected in the future events to prevent any perception by the audience. and these responsibilty rest on the hands of the facilitators of the show.
