Brgy. Licod, Poblacion, Tanauan LeyteI had the chance to visit Tanauan, Leyte briefly last June of this year. In so doing, I was able to gauge how far our efforts in improving our town has prospered so far. I have not been home for more than two years already so it came as a surprise to see that not much has changed.

Tanauan, Leyte, a town strategically located in Eastern Visayas, has recently been exerting efforts to become the Skimboarding capital in the Philippines. Will this development spur the economic growth of the municipality? Will this attract investments? How will this affect the small and medium enterprises in the locality? Can the Local Government Unit support the development? Is this what we really want to do? Or are we just blinded by the promise of modernization that we are ready to step back and allow our community to be transformed into a business hub where the characteristics of big cities will soon be adopted by our hometown?
