Tanauan, Leyte “ A Prosperous Town or a Town Waiting to Take-off?”

This thought passed my mind as I was thinking on what topic to write on. Indeed, how do you measure up a town? Is it by how many people lives in it or by how educated and literate are the people living in it? Is it by how much it is earning in revenues or how many taxpayers are paying the correct taxes? Is it by how prolific is its business sector or by the number of jobs created by businesses? Is it by the number of “balikbayans” or tourists that it lures to the place or by how many businessmen are willing to invest in the town? It is complex indeed or don’t you think so?

The Most Business-Friendly Municipality in Visayas: Tanauan

Tanauan – our beloved hometown. With its many eccentricities, it is so missed by people who have traveled far to reach greater and greener pastures. It simply never ceases to amaze its “Balikbayans” for the changes that have taken place since they have gone or simply for the lack of it.

Tanauan, according to Wikepedia, is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. In the concluded year 2000 census, it has a population of 45,056 people or 9,224 households occupying the fifty-four (54) barangays.
