After battling with uncooperative waves and tides, the 4th Skimboarding Competition finished with astounding success. Done in Tanauan, Leyte, the Skimboarding Capital of the Philippines, 2007 Tanauan Skimboarding 4th National Competition, added more life and colors to the festivities of Tanauan’s yuletide celebrations.
The said competition picked its starting phase on December 20, 2007 with a variety of nightly activities that were highly attended by people of all ages coming from different towns and cities, seeking to get a taste of true blue and world class skimboarding skills, exhibited by many Tanauananons who are so hooked into this sport. Also, Tanauan locals also opened various stores and shops for the spectators to scour and buy.
The nightly activities ranged from acoustic/reggae concert to band shows, festival (Kaadlawan), acoustic night, concert for local talents, Bikini Open, reggae party and the much-awaited skimboarding competition proper.
These activities went on for nine solid and full nights (December 20-23 and December 26-30), making an additional lively bang on Tanauan’s traditional yuletide seasons’ customs and traditions.
These festivities attracted more guests, visitors and tourists that trooped to the portals of Tanauan and witnessed a deluge of vivacious activities that made their Christmas break worth it.
Organizers, sponsors and patrons of the said competition promised a louder Skimboarding competition blast next year as Tanauan, the Skimboarding Capital of the Philippines will bring forth the 5th Skimboarding National Competition, December of this year, 2008.

The crowd was also equally pleased with Espada’s performance however it was Yanuario’s intense and passionate feat that captured the nods of the judges. Yanuario’s performance was pegged on the following criteria, wave quality, trick difficulty and execution of tricks.
Under the Women’s category, Sheryl Pajelleno placed first followed by Kikay Espada. For the Groumet (Kids) category, Jhonrey Cinco emerged as the champion closely followed by Frandy Piamonte.
